Sequins & Snow
The winter of 2019 was unusually cold and snowy for Tucson. For me, it was a huge blessing, because this Washington girl loves her snow. Unfortunately, Tucson snow days never last long once our warm desert sun is out. It breaks my heart, as a snow-lover and a photographer, because I love capturing snow photos. The day of the storm the Gunter family contacted me hoping to book a family session in the snow. I explained that the snow was already melting, so we scheduled their session for the next day. True to form the snow was already gone, but thankfully some snowy remnants remained on the peaks of Gates Pass.
It was a somewhat chilly day in February, but true to form the Tucson sun was shining brightly giving this lovely family’s photos a beautiful warm glow. Their outfits were gorgeously put together in a casual-formal style, with their oldest daughter in a beautiful sequined dress. This was the first time a client wore sequins to a session and I fell in love! Sequins in the sunlight bring an energetic glow to the images, and I can’t wait to photograph a client in sequins again.
Enough about sequins and on to the session itself. The girls were sweet and gorgeous, and had a good time as we walked through the desert shooting and giggling. Mom and dad were also incredibly sweet and gracious, putting up with all my ideas as I dragged them here and there for an array of different photos. Although the snow didn’t stick around for their session, the desert landscape, their attire and the loving warmth between the four of them created beautiful images. I am incredibly thankful for meeting this wonderful family and capturing gorgeous images for them.
